In January we were able to spend 5 days here before our onward journey to Zanzibar. Everything we had hoped for was confirmed: idyll, peace, sandy beach and, above all, great hosts who gave us valuable tips on all our questions. The Kijongo Bay Beach Resort is a generous hotel complex that guarantees plenty of space and excellent privacy. Sally, Karl and team looked after us very warmly the whole time. We stayed here for two days and felt completely at ease. A great experience with friendly people and a great location right by the sea. The food was delicious and left nothing to be desired. We particularly enjoyed the English tea time: Pure relaxation! We would recommend anyone who is in the area to stop by and, if time allow, to stay a few days longer to unwind. Any time again!

Kijongo Resort is a paradise for those seeking tranquility. There are plenty of opportunities to engage in activities. However, the first recommendation in the information booklet is: "do nothing!" The location certainly invites this. The staff, the food, and the location are amazing! I It does take some effort to get there, but it is definitely worth it.

Very nice spot, great houses, family atmosphere, very good food. We felt very comfortable. After that you don't need to go to Zanzibar anymore. Thanks to Sally, Carl and the local staff, it was just gorgeous.

Ein wunderbares Ressort. Wir waren 7 Nächte dort, genossen ein Mitarbeiter Team das sehr freundlich war und uns verwöhnte mit bestem Services und grosser Herzlichkeit. Es gab ein passendes Angebot für die Freizeit, z.B. Bootstour zu den Corallenriffen um zu schnorcheln, Kanutouren in die Mangroven, Massage allerbester Qualität und einer Geschäftsleitung für die guter Service sehr wichtig ist, aber auch versteht, individuell auf die Wünsche der Gäste einzugehen.

(Translated by Google) We stayed at this amazing place for a week. If you are looking for silence combined with great service and lovingly furnished houses, you have come to the right place. The beach is gorgeous, like Robinson Crusoe on his deserted island. The variety of butterflies and birds is also worth a visit. The lucky ones will be woken up at night by the bush babies. You can sleep outside on the upper terrace. There's nothing more beautiful.
We sat by the campfire, the starry African sky above us and the sound of the sea next to us.
We would love to return to this place of power. Many thanks for everything.

Wir waren eine Woche zu Gast an diesem fantastischen Ort. Wer die Stille sucht verbunden mit einem großartigen Service und liebevoll ausgestatteten Häusern,der ist hier genau am richtigen Platz. Der Strand ist traumhaft, wie bei Robinson Crusoe auf seiner einsamen Insel. Auch die Vielfalt der Schmetterlinge und Vögel ist einen Besuch wert. Wer großes Glück hat wird nachts von den Bushbabys geweckt. Man kann draußen auf der oberen Terrasse schlafen. Es gibt nichts Schöneres.
Wir saßen am Lagerfeuer, über uns der afrikanische Sternenhimmel und neben uns das Meeresrauschen.
So gern würden wir zurückkehren an diesen Kraftort. Vielen Dank für alles.

Wir haben gleich zu Beginn unserer 6-wöchigen Tanzaniareise das KijongoBay ausgewählt, um anzukommen und den Alltags-Stress aus Europa hinter uns zu lassen. Und der Ort ist perfekt dafür; kilometerlanger Sandstrand ohne lästige Verkäufer oder Beachboys, die Dachterrasse mit Tagesbett, Aussicht aufs Meer und einer kühlen Meeresbrise, und nicht zuletzt das wundervolle Personal, dass sich ums Wohl der Gäste sorgt und die wunderschöne Gartenanlage pflegt.
Täglich kommen Vögel, Affen und kleine Krebse zu Besuch.

Mit dem Kajak kann man gratis durch die Mangroven paddeln. Sally und Carl helfen einem aber auch andere Ausflüge entlang der Küste zu organisieren.

Wir durften auch einen 60.Geburtstag feiern und für die Jubilarin wurden keine Mühen gescheut; wunderbare Dekoration, Lagerfeuer und extra für unser mitgebrachtes Fondue hat das Personal eine tanzanische Variante gefunden, dass wir dies geniessen konnten.
Alles perfekt! Ein super ruhiger Ort um zu relaxen und geniessen!

Ett härligt boende på stranden vid Indiska oceanen. Supergod mat och dryck att intas i den strandnära restaurangen och baren.
Vi var med på två intressanta och trevliga små vandringar med Karl; Mangrovieträsk och livet på havsbotten vid ebb. Karl är verkligen en kunnig guide.
Trevligt och familjärt att resortens manager (Karl och Sally) jobbade ute och delade med sig av sina kunskap om livet i Tanzania och allt annat vi ville veta.
Ett toppenboende att njuta av och koppla av på som jag varmt rekommenderar.

We have just returned from the most wonderful week at Kijongo Bay. Our 3 children (3, 7 and 10) had the best time. The beach was fantastic and very safe to swim in and then we had the added bonus of having a pool too! The food was great and if there were things the kids struggled with, we simply asked for a variation which was no problem. All the staff were so welcoming and we felt very taken care of. It really was a great week and we were sad to leave!

We spent a week with friends at Kijongo Bay Resort. It was such an amazing holiday. The kids tell it better than we could.

“The staff were all super friendly and welcoming and I really got to know each of them. The beach was beautiful and so interesting. One of my favourite activities was the beach walk when Karl told us lots of information about the sea creatures that we found on our walk right next to the resort. I also loved kayaking, I had never done it before and really liked being in a double kayak with the waves splashing in my face. I’d really like to go back again some day…if my mum and dad let me.”  Abi aged 11 (and a half!)

“Kijongo Bay Resort was really fun because there were lots of activities and fun things to do. I love swimming and knew they had a pool but I didn’t know there would be kayaks!! It was so much fun when you went out on the sea in the kayak, all the bumpy waves would hit you and I just kept laughing. The food was great! I tried new things like calamari, I didn’t think I would like it but all the other food had been amazing so I decided to try something new and unexpected. I actually really liked it. Thank you for such an amazing time.” Eli (aged 10).

“The sea was really good for swimming and I loved all the food and I tried lots of new things. I saw lots of great orangey and yellow sunsets with the palms trees in front. The bonfire was really fun and they gave us marshmallows to roast and we were looking at the stars.” Nathan aged 5 (and a half)

“I saw-ed crabs and did swimming and I like to eat the chapati and the sausages.” Josiah aged 2 (and a half)

Our family of five visited Kijongo Bay Beach Resort in August 2021. We have been trying to return for several months and will be visiting again soon. It is AWESOME in the true sense of the word, not the overused phrase of today. The location is spectacular with all villas and the communal dining and pool area all facing the ocean. We arrived at lunchtime, planning to stay two nights, and decided to extend for a third night because the resort offers true relaxation and comfort. The villas are beautifully appointed. The food is sublime, very fresh ingredients and diverse meals. The kitchen staff and managers were very careful to cater to our dietary restrictions, including a severe allergy. The managers, Sally and Karl, and all the team gave us a warm welcome and offered a wealth of information as well as a guided walk. As a guest, you can choose to do as little or as much as you want. A guest can spend the day reading on the top balcony of a villa, enjoying the breeze or a guest can walk on the beach or kayak in the water for kilometers. It was a rare find for our family with ages 9-50+ for kids, teens and adults all to agree that it is a super vacation spot.

I visited during new years break, it is such a beautiful place to go with the family, its a place that provides a good rest and great have fun at the same time, the staffs brilliant with children and they provide a top class service, the rooms has all facillities that are needed and very clean, they provide fresh meals that are top class, the managers tops the lot, they know how to look after the customers and make you feel really at home while you are there, i recommend anyone who wants to have fun and relax to visit there, they have a beautiful and clean beach that you could swim and enjoy yourself, it is a best place to visit and you wont regret, i will definetly visit them again

Our family of five (including one teen, one tween, one child) had a fabulous visit to Kijongo Bay Beach Resort. It was our first visit. We had booked originally for two nights, but decided to stay a third night because the accommodation, location, food and service were so exceptional. We definitely plan to return. The co-managers, Sally and Karl, and the staff team members were exceptional. The kitchen was able to accommodate our special dietary restrictions and produced fresh and tasty meals that all of us could enjoy. The villas are impeccably clean and tastefully appointed. Each villa has a covered balcony with a giant sofa that can be made up as a bed with a mosquito net should any guest want to sleep outdoors. Our son very much enjoyed that option. Kijongo Bay Beach is currently the only resort open on this 8 km stretch of beach. We were the only guests and enjoyed long walks on the beach and extended outings and water play using the kayaks available at the resort. The resort is taking precautions for COVID, including all staff wearing masks and good cleaning and sanitizing practices.
We had constant delightful breezes blowing from the ocean and felt very comfortable. Travelers who require air conditioning may not be a fit for this resort. The location feels quite remote (which makes it special), but the drive to Dar es Salaam can be made in 5-6 hours depending on traffic and off road driving skills. It will be easiest to visit by car during the dry season as the road is rough and is mainly made of sand as you get closer to the resort. Once you arrive, you will not want to leave! GO!

Nach unserer zweiwöchigen Selbstfahrer Reise, mit vielen wechselnden Unterkünften haben wir hier 6 wundervolle Nächte verbracht.

Wir wurden herzlich von Carl und Sally mit ihrem Team begrüßt, da wir etwas spät dran waren hatten Sie sich gesorgt ob wir vor Dunkelheit noch ankommen und uns dann per Telefon versucht zu erreichen. Es war so schön wie Sally sich um uns gesorgt hatte und sich richtig freute dass wir gut da sind.

Wir waren in einer Villa mit Meerblick untergebracht. Die Villa war sauber und ordentlich gepflegt. An der Eingangstreppe ist ein kleines Fußwaschbecken angebracht, diese gibt es auch an jedem Zugang zum Restaurant, Bar und Poolbereich, so dass man so wenig Sand wie möglich in die Räume getragen hat und dadurch wunderbar Barfuß laufen konnte. In der Villa gibt es im EG ein schönes Badezimmer im hinteren Bereich und vorne steht ein Sofa mit Tisch und ein Doppelbett. Im oberen Geschoss gibt es noch ein Einzelbett und eine Terrasse mit Sofa, welches auch als Schlafgelegenheit hergerichtet werden kann. Wir haben in der ganzen Zeit immer nur draußen auf der Terasse geschlafen und die Geräusche von Wind, Meer und Tieren genoßen.

Zum aufwachen konnte man sich morgens schon Kaffee und Keks ans Zimmer bringen lassen den man dann gemütlich auf dem Villa-Vorplatz genießen konnte.

Alle Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich, liebevoll und bemüht einem jeden Wunsch von den Lippen abzulesen damit man als Gast sich einfach nur wohl fühlt. Für uns war es wie ein nach Hause kommen in die Familie wo man sich einfach etwas länger nicht gesehen hat obwohl wir noch nie hier waren.

Die kompletten Mahlzeiten ( Frühstück, Mittagessen, Kaffee, Abendessen ) waren nahezu immer einfach nur perfekt. Obwohl wir die einzigen Gäste zu der Zeit waren hatten wir nicht das Gefühl dass man deshalb etwas weniger Service oder Essen anbietet. Es war einfach nur toll.

DANKE für diese einmalig schöne Zeit bei Euch diese wunderbare Herzlichkeit und der tolle Humor von Carl und Sally. Wäre der Weg nicht so weit für uns würden wir uns definitiv öfters sehen :)

Lovely spot on the beach with palms and white sand. Privacy and high quality. Clean rooms and nice Swahili style architecture. Delicious meals. Kind staff and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended!!

I went there with my family for four nights on full boarding. We also had a one day safari drive to Saadani National Park. The place is very welcoming and very close to the beach. It is an excellent place to relax for family. The managers and the whole team made sure that we have everything we needed. The food was unbelievable. In short, I would recommend the hotel with no hesitation.
